"Boekenoogen – Top Of The Bench"

Boekenoogen Vineyard

Boekenoogen is one of my favorite vineyards on the planet. Northern end of the Highlands, a beautiful property, way up on the top of the SLH Bench. Consistently great fruit, especially Pinot clones 113 and Pommard 4.” – M.M.

The Boekenoogens are one of Monterey County’s long-time cattle ranching families. In 1997, John Boekenoogen took part of the family ranch in the Santa Lucia Highlands, and began planting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Today son Garrett Boekenoogen oversees the 97 acres of vineyards and is winemaker for the family’s own label.

“I’ve developed a very close working relationship with Garrett Boekenoogen. He and I share the same vision of growing the best possible fruit, picking at just the perfect time, and then getting out of the way in the cellar – letting the character of the vineyard speak clearly in the finished wine.”
